Second Prize 1982

Erik and Taina Rhodin, as young architects having just moved to the US from Scandinavia, entered this national design competition for the Shelter / Museum for the gaff rigged 25 foot sloop “Great Republic”. Winning Second Prize awarded by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the Mayor of Gloucester, and Jury Chair Robert Campbell. The sloop was solo sailed from Gloucester to Lisbon in record time in 1901 by Captain Howard Blackburn.
